Seeds of Creativity Camps are about enjoying and nurturing the garden, making all kinds of beautiful art and building skills together. We spend time outdoors in the back garden creating and exploring new art techniques and mediums through individual and group multi-media projects. Every Artist-Camper takes home beautiful artwork and create a personal sketchbook for recording, planning and drawing throughout the week.

Each Seeds of Creativity camp week is different with unique projects and experiences. Guest teachers will be visiting Acorn Studio and sharing their special talents and knowledge each day. Kids will explore some mindfulness, movement, expressive arts and meditation.


We have a great time at camp and learn A LOT.

Artist-Gardeners will be tasting and making delicious food and celebrating Friday with a homemade pizza lunch. Every day includes fun outdoor time, games and a walk.

All art materials included. Every child rmakes a sketchbook! We make art every day.
Pizza lunch on Friday. Snacks and refreshments are provided every day.

We're ba-ack! Acorn's Seeds of Creativity visual art and garden camps are returning this July 2019!

We are excited to get back to art making in January!
TUESDAY CLASSES ARE NOW FULL. But we still have spaces available on Thursdays!

 ART AFTER SCHOOL 
JAN - MAR 2019 PROJECTS :

 Drawing Monsters
For this project we will use our imagination to draw our own unique fantasy creatures.

 Paper Landscapes
For this project we will tear and cut paper to create our own landscapes.

 "The Power of Love" Comic Strips 
For this project we will create our own graphic stories about love and friendship.

 Contact Paper Elephants
For this project we will use patterned contact paper matter to create a mixed media work.

 OUR NEXT 8 WEEK SESSION TUES JAN 15 - THURS MARCH 7 
THURSDAY SPOTS STILL AVAILABLE!
$184 per child + HST / 1 afternoon per week (total $207.92 ea child)

I'M BA-ACK! I've spent the last 5 weeks visiting Iceland, Copenhagen, Thailand and California.
I have so many stories to share!

And I'm happy to announce I am offering two 8 week Art After School sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting this January 2019.

Everyone's asking about 2018 SEEDS OF CREATIVITY CAMPS!
Acorn Artists have been getting the garden READY. We've been PLANTING SEEDS. And we would L-O-V-E to see your child in the Acorn Art Studio Community Garden. It's time to secure your spots grownups!

Seeds of Creativity Camps are about enjoying and nurturing the garden, making all kinds of beautiful art and building skills together. Kids will be in the art studio and the back garden this summer creating and exploring new art techniques and mediums through individual and group multi-media projects.

Artist-Gardeners will be tasting and making delicious food and celebrating Friday with a homemade pizza lunch. Every day will include fun outdoor time, games and a walk.

Each Seeds of Creativity camp week is different with unique projects and experiences. Guest teachers will be visiting Acorn Studio and sharing their special talents and knowledge each day. Kids will explore some mindfulness, movement, expressive arts and meditation.

THROUGH THE GARDEN GATE
Exploring : So Many Seeds! Garden Sketchbooks. All About Water. Ants!
Artists will experiment with different art techniques this week, hear great stories and make a mural. This week includes : 
  • So many Seeds! Sketching and recording in our Journals. 
  • Planting seeds. All About Water. 
  • Ants! Games and picnic in the Rawlinson field. 
  • Creating trellises and supports! Painting with water. 
  • We're making a salad and pizza lunch! Ants in the Garden Mural 

JULY 30 - AUG 4
WHO'S IN THE GARDEN?
Exploring : Garden creatures. Veggie Identifying and Painting. Night Animals!
Artists will experiment with different art techniques this week, hear great stories and make a mural. This week includes :
  • Making our Sketchbooks and Sketching Seedlings. 
  • Who Lives Here? Creatures in our garden! 
  • Night Animals! Games and picnic in the Rawlinson field. 
  • Animal Moves. Painting Bug Bugs! 
  • We're making a salad and pizza lunch! Garden Creatures Mural 
AUGUST 27 - 31
CITY GARDENER
Exploring : Garden Tools. Fountains. Mud and Clay. Birds and Worms!
Artists will     experiment with different art techniques this week, hear great stories and make a mural. This week includes :

  • Garden Tour! Making our Sketchbooks and drawing plants 
  • Caring for our urban garden. Garden tool kit! 
  • Mud and Creating with Clay. Games and picnic in the Rawlinson field. 
  • Backyard Birds. Digging for Worms! 
  • We're making a pizza lunch today! Birds and Worms Mural
 

All art materials included. Every child will receive a sketchbook.
Please bring a packed lunch each day except Friday. Additonal snacks and refreshments will be provided every day.

Seeds of Creativity Camp payments can be sent via etransfer to acorn.art.toronto@gmail.com password : acornarts (TRANSFERS ARE THE BESTEST) or your deposit can be dropped off or mailed to the studio. We can also send a Paypal invoice.

Seeds of Creativity Camp Fee is $327.70 ($290. + HST) per week. 50% DEPOSIT = $163.85

URBAN GARDEN CAMP STARTS TOMORROW!

Super amazing things have been happening in the Acorn Community garden these last 2 weeks! GIANT squah plant (and our first quash!) Hugr eggplants and AO MANY tomatoes!

 

 

​We are SO excited to begin another fun Acorn Seeds of Creativity Visual Art and Garden Camp week tomorrow!
We have lots of fun activities planned for our camp week.
If your kid(s) are coming tomorrow- Please read this over so you know what's happening!

AUGUST 14 - 18
URBAN GARDEN

Exploring : Garden Tools and Care. Water Art and Stone Creatures. Cicadas. Building a Fountain!
Artists will experiment with different art techniques this week, hear great stories and make a mural. 

This week includes :
  • Garden Tour! Making our Sketchbooks and drawing plants
  • Caring for our urban garden. Water games and art!
  • Cicadas! Games and picnic in the Rawlinson field.
  • Bulding a Fountain and Painting Stone Creatures.
  • We're making a pizza lunch today! Urban Butterfly Mural
We've had a couple of last minute cancellations!
Do you know anyone who might like to join us tomorrow? Please put them in touch! 

We have 5 fantastic additional artist facilitator/ guest teachers / helpers joining us this week.
Their names are Anna, Emma, Colin, Gabe and Marni!
  • Seeds of Creativity Camp runs from 10AM to 3PM and the garden gate opens at 9:45.
  • Please send your child with a packed lunch (except Friday!), hat, sunscreen, sturdy outdoor shoes and a water bottle. Please pack an extra change of clothes if you think that would be a good idea for your child. Also please send a bathing suit - if it's super hot we may use the sprinkler or decide to play with water.
  • Campers will be receiving their new sketchbooks on Monday! 
  • We'll be working on a group mural throughout the week. 
  • Each day will include a morning stretch, Mid Day Meditation, Community Walk or a run in the park and End of Day Circle. 
  • We'll be having lunch at noon and snacks throughout the day.
  • I know most of your children and they are comfortable with me. If I don't know your child(ren), or even if I haven't seen them in a while, please tell them all about me, show them the website and program pictures. They will be happy to see these things and it will be reassuring when it comes time to drop them off. Explain to them how you will be getting here, what the camp schedule is for Monday, when you will be picking them up (3) and answer their questions. This should help with any initial apprehension on Monday when you drop them off for 10.

Join Our Final Art After School Session Starting May 8


We've been having a great time at Art After School this Spring! We launched Juicy Wednesdays, made more awesome art and as things are warming up we are spending more and more time outside! We've been out back in the Acorn community garden space just enjoying the outdoors. It's been so nice to be able to start having some class time outside again! We been loving watching the animals around the bird feeder, especially the Robins, Squirrels...and pair of Cardinals!

There has been a bit of garden work- weeding, raking, digging and turning the soil and deciding where to plant things. Yesterday's group dug up some worms and discovered a fat grub. We have some wonderful new veggie seeds to plant from Urban Harvest - but we have to get the new soil turned and these seeds started ASAP...And make our bean pole tents!
We have *lots* of fun things to do at Art After School this Spring!

Our FINAL Art After School session of the school year begins in just 2 weeks! Registered yet?
This is an 8 week session running from May 8 - June 26
Program space is limited! So Get Registered!
